Transfers

November 18, 2013

Alright, so all is going well here for me. I am in my new area. Its called Comalcalco, right outside of Cardenas. Well, where we work is actually a little city outside of Comalcalco, called Chichicapa, but the city where the church is at is Comalcalco. So yeah, I mean, thats where I´m at in my life. Anyway, this last week has gone really well and we have received a lot of help during this time, but I will throw that in here shortly.

So, first off, I just wanted to say that we went to a chocolate factory in the morning. That was cool. My companion, elder morelos, was singing "willy wonka, willy wonka" all morning before we went haha. So we went there and we got told how the chocolate industries in america are slowly killing people because of the different stuff they put in the chocolate and what not, but I mean it is what it is. I´m gonna keep eating my cookies and cream hersheys. If it kills me, well I die happy. If not, well, I´ll live happy. And that is just the way it is.

Last monday was hard on me. I hated saying goodbye to everyone. They made me cry and everything, and I didn´t even have time to say good bye to all the people I wanted to see! But I was happy to have had the opportunity to be apart of their lives. I have seen people change their life as we go to visit them, and I know that it isnt for our own efforts that this change occurs, but rather for the Spirit that these people come to feel. The Lord truly touches their hearts. One of the guys who I had become good friends with told me about his desire to serve a mission after having years of not going to church, and one of our investigators didn´t want me to leave and even offered to let me hide in her house haha. But, each one of the people that I met during my time in Allende have touched my life, and I really hope to return to see them soon. I pray that the Lord will continue to watch over them and help them to learn and progress in the gospel, and that their faith in the Lord will never fail them.

This week in my new area I quickly learned that we dont have a whole lot of investigators. and that our area is a little bit far from the church so it gets a little harder to have people arrive to sacrament meeting. To get to our area, we have to take a bus  for about twenty minutes, and sometimes we have to return to our apartment early and stop working because after a certain time the bus doesnt pass. Anyway, we started working hard to try and find more people. On Thursday we started praying to find new people, and thursday we found like three of four new investigators, which is really good for one day. No sooner than we had asked, the Lord helped us out. I was kind of shocked. I mean it was pretty great. Also I have been reading about how the Lord is hastening missionary work and everything just seemed to be connected to what was happening with us. I know that at times I read the different prophecys and what not in the scriptures and I just thought, well that isnt going to happen in my life time, but I know now that their is a lot going on around us but we dont take the time to notice it.

The other day, we were teaching a couple who has been going to church for about a year, and two of their kids have already been baptized in the church. The couple hasn´t yet been baptized because they aren´t married, and so that is the only thing that impedes them. They have lived together for fourteen years, you would think they would be ready but, I mean, thats my perspective from the outside looking in. Anyway, Elder Morelos and I went to there house to teach about the Law of Chastity, and to talk about marriage and all that good stuff. As we started talking, I felt like I should share a scripture in Mark 10 (I think thats where its at) that says what God seals, man cant seperate (or something similar, I dont really know because I usually read it in spanish) but its talking about marriage. I shared the scripture and started to give my testimony, but what came out of my mouth is not what I expected. I started saying things I had not even thought of and the all my words and spanish and what-not was way better than normal. Even the way I pronounced things was different. I dont know, it was one of those times where I knew that I wasnt the one talking. I felt the Spirit of the Lord strongly, and I can´t deny that in that moment the Lord was helping me to convey a message that this couple needed to here. I mean, I don´t really know how to explain it, but I do know that the Lord knows each and every one of His children, and I know that He is doing what He can to bring them home to Him. I know that at times the letters of the missionaries can come off a little cheesy, and I hope this doesnt sound that way, but the truth is that this really is a life changing experience. I have learned so much in so little time. Things I wouldnt have learned if I were at home. I have a new understanding of the teachings of our Lord and Savior and a stronger testimony of the sacrifice He made for us. I know that God must truly love us to have sent His Son here to die for the sins of the world. There is nothing we can do to repay the love that He has for us, but we can try all we can to show that we are grateful for all that He has done.

I love you guys, and I look forward to writing you every week. I hope that you are all well. I love you guys, and if there is anything I can do to ´help a brotha out´ well, let me know. I will see what good I can do from Mexico. I love you guys!

Oh and heres some scriptures.
Ephesians 3:14-21
3 Nephi 9:18-22
